Happy Girl

I can hear Sweet Pea butchering the words to a Veggie Tale song and that puts a smile on my face.

It doesn’t seem so long ago that she was exclaiming “I’m a happy girl!”  I remember walking through the Denver International Airport earlier this year when she looked squarely at me and said, “I’m so happy.”  Lately she’s been putting her new vocabulary to work: mad, grouchy and tired.  “I miss you” and “You’re so silly” are a few of her favorite phrases.  My personal favorite is when she yells, “Me, three!”

She has an endless source of energy and talks incessantly.  The tattling has begun, too.  “I want to show you something” is used frequently and today she did just that.  She had her dad follow her upstairs so that she could show him the mess I made.  “Mom did it!”

I love that I never know what to expect from her. Every day is different, but it’s always filled with a lot of love, laughter and happiness – even though it’s definitely peppered with her misbehaving.  I wouldn’t change a thing.  She’s brought a new level of joy to my life and to the lives of those she comes into contact with.

Out of the blue she asked, “Where’s grandma?”  “In Heaven, remember?”  “Oh yeah.”

That made me think about how God took away the pain of the many deaths I survived and He used those losses to teach me to live in the moment, valuing each day and the people around me.

Love Your Neighbor

He has a shoe, and I have a pot
But when we look deeper there’s more that we’ve got.
God made us special, and now I can see
If you’re special to Him then you’re special to me!
Love your neighbor
When someone helps you then you’ll understand
When you love your neighbor,
Loving means lending a hand!

If you see someone who’s hurt or in need,
Maybe it’s time to perform a good deed.
And when you’ve finished you’ll find that it’s true,
When you make them feel better, you’ll feel better too!

Here, let me help you.

Thank you!

Oh, love your neighbor

When someone helps you then you’ll understand

When you love your neighbor,
Loving means

Lending a hand!

About inspiredbybrooke

I lost my mom and my grandma to cancer, along with three other people I loved dearly. I decided to start this blog to capture my thoughts about where I've been, where I'm going and what I've learned from life. It's opened my eyes to all the other blogs out there and people I can relate to. Now I know I'm not so alone after all.
